NIKKI SHERMAN
PHOTOGRAPHER + AUTHOR
As a seasoned photographer, I have had the privilege of capturing moments at prestigious events such as the Kentucky Derby, Devon Horse Show, Villanova University Division-1 Men's Basketball games, Penn Relays, and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
One of the most unforgettable experiences in my career was photographing American Pharoah’s historic Triple Crown run in 2015, culminating at Belmont Park where the thunderous cheers of 90,000 spectators roared as he crossed the finish line, ending a 37-year drought. The overwhelming emotions I felt are etched in my memory forever. Equally as thrilling has been witnessing the success of the human athletes I've captured, many of whom have gone on to excel in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and even the Olympics.
My work has been featured in esteemed publications like Blue & Gold Illustrated, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Thoroughbred Times and internationally with the Irish Echo, as well as adorning covers of the Blood-Horse, Daily Racing Form, The Florida Horse, and Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred. My time lapse photography has also graced television screens on MTV2 and Comcast SportsNet, showcasing the range of my visual storytelling.
In addition to photography, my written pieces have found homes in publications such as Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred and newsletters for various horsemen's associations, including the Pennsylvania Horse Breeders Association.
A graduate of Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Photography, I currently serve as a track photographer for EQUI-PHOTO, where I continue to capture the spirit of both horses and horsemen.
Outside of my professional endeavors, I live on the outskirts of Philadelphia with my husband, Mike, and our cats, Callie, Fiona, and Petunia. I am also the owner of two retired Thoroughbreds, Alan's Legacy and Wait For It.
"Nikki is a multifaceted photographer with an incredible eye. I especially love her range. She does sport, captures emotion, and her finished pieces are carefully selected and detailed. If Nikki’s talent wasn’t enough, her love for horses and experiences as an equestrian set her far above the rest."
